The Blechnum tabulare originates from the subtropical and tropical forests of South Africa, where it naturally grows in moist, sheltered areas with humus-rich soil. It typically grows on the forest floor under tall trees and can develop into an impressive (tree) fern under the right conditions.

The cutting box contains three healthy mini-plants that have just been removed from the tray and are ready to grow into beautiful ferns. Their fresh green fronds have an airy appearance and make a charming accent in shady or partially shaded spots.

  • *Position: Partial to full shade; avoid direct sunlight, especially in the afternoon.
  • Soil: Moist and humus-rich, well-draining; a light mulch layer helps retain moisture.
  • Watering: Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but avoid letting the roots sit in standing water.
  • Temperature & Winter: This fern grows best in cool to moderate temperatures; in the Netherlands, it is recommended to keep it indoors or in a sheltered spot outside. It is advisable to keep the mini-plants indoors or in a greenhouse until they are well-rooted.
  • Maintenance: Occasionally remove old or damaged fronds to keep the plant neat and healthy.
