The Coniogramme emeiensis, also known as the bamboo fern, is an elegant fern with a tropical appearance. Its fresh green leaves feature dark veins that run across the leaf like a delicate pattern, almost as if they were drawn. The leaf stems often have a reddish-brown hue, providing a beautiful contrast to the vibrant green foliage.


Originally from the mountainous regions of China, this fern grows in sheltered, moist spots. It thrives in partial to full shade and does well in the ground, as well as in a spacious pot on the terrace. It can also be kept indoors.


In mild winters, the Coniogramme usually remains attractive, but in severe frost some protection is recommended, such as a layer of leaves or a frost cloth.
