New to the world of ferns? No worries! With just a bit of care, these green beauties will thrive and become real eye-catchers.

1. Bright light, but no direct sun
Ferns love light, but not harsh sunlight. Place indoor ferns in a bright spot out of direct sun. Outdoor ferns thrive in partial shade—think under a tree or next to a fence.

2. Keep it moist
Ferns enjoy a humid environment. Don’t let the soil dry out, but also avoid soggy roots. Check the soil regularly: lightly moist is perfect. In dry indoor air, mist them occasionally.

3. No drafts, but fresh air
Ferns appreciate fresh air but dislike cold drafts or sudden temperature changes. Keep them in a sheltered location.

4. Occasional feeding (but not too much!)
During the growing season (spring and summer), you can feed them every 4–6 weeks. Use a mild fertilizer or one made for green plants.

5. Repot when they outgrow their pot
If your fern starts outgrowing its pot, it’s time to move! Repot preferably in spring using airy, moisture-retaining potting soil.
