The Pellaea hastata is a distinctive, compact fern that performs well as a houseplant, especially for plant lovers looking for something different from the usual evergreen varieties. Its bluish-green, arrow-shaped fronds and dark stems give it a calm yet powerful appearance. In the wild, it grows in rocky environments, and you can see that reflected in its tough, leathery leaves and preference for well-draining soil. This species is not frost-hardy and must be brought indoors during the colder months in temperate climates.

  • Humidity: Tolerates dry air, but occasional misting is beneficial
